Bosco Boys Forging Ahead

A trip to Mombasa
We have a well organized healthy competition for our boys thoughout the year. Boys are divided into four groups according to the age group. Points are awarded daily to the teams for all the activities, like studies, work, cleanliness, behaviour, initiatives, sports, entertainments etc. The team that comes first on weekly basis is given small gifts. The winning team at the end of the year is taken to Mombasa for a week end. All the group worked hard to come first. The last days were very competitive. The boys came up with very creative ideas. Finally the champions had the victory celebrated in the waters of Indian Ocean in MombasaBosco Boys Graduates
As the year comes to an end we count our achievements and evaluate. This year we have been able to rescue and rehabilitate 59 children from the street. Education is one of the key priorities of Bosco Boys. This year we had 35 candidates sitting for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education. As we eagerly wait for the result we are sure they will make us proud. We organized a farewell party for them on 14th Nov 2009 and we wish them best of luck as they continue with their education.Seventeen boys completed High School (KCSE) and fifteen boys completed Technical School this year. This is a great achievement. We are sure all the seventeen who completed Form IV will come out in flying colours and some of them will join the local University.
Christmas Holidays
All the boys were looking forward to 26th Nov to return home. Every year we make sure that our children go for holidays three times a year. This is part of the reintegration process and in this way they learn to return home and live with their families. When the primary school children go home, the secondary school and technical school children return to Bosco Boys and so we are never left alone. They too go for their holidays after two weeks of service. However there are a few boys who do not have any places to go, we encourage them to go with their friends. All the boys will return back on 27th Dec 2009.Holiday Camp
This year the December Holiday camp will be held from 28th Dec to 2nd Jan 2010. All the boys and girls eagerly wait for these days of fun and learning. I take this opportunity to thank all those who are helping us for this camp by sponsoring the lunch on those days and the prizes. It was a long cherished dream to put up a proper shelter for our children in Langata. So far they have been living in containers turned into dormitories. Thanks to Fr. Felice Molino who took initiative to raise funds, we shall soon have a proper residence for our children. We have given the building contract and are waiting for the City Council’s approval for the constructions to begin.Thank you Fr. Felice.Fr. Sebastian Chirayath
