Top of the World… Bosco Boys makes us proud

Music Festival 2009 Our boys and girls have made us proud once again in the Kenya National Music Festival by bringing home first prize in English Choral Verse speaking special composition on the theme “ dwelling in peace, unity and liberty” Two items in second prize a Baganda Traditional Dance (losing by one point) and Ngonjera to be sung Swahili original composition(losing by half a point). For the Baganda folk dance we came fifth. This year we took part in four events in national level, the competition was very high and our kids did extremely well. Thus they have shown us that they can attain the highest standards if they are provided with opportunities. Kenya national Music festival opened its floor on 3rd August with the first performances and concluded on the 12th. There were over 250 categories of items presented and we were among the few chosen ones to present for the final Gala.  We missed our chance for  the state house, only 23 items were chosen for the State House presentation.

We want to take this opportunity to say a  word of thanks to all who helped us in this music festival. Our trainers, Mr. Fred, Ms. Rosemary Terry, Ms. Everline, and Mr. Muli did a wonderful job. They spent hours trying to get all the items perfect. Special word of thanks to Mr. Bimal Kantaria, Mr. Kalpan, Mr. Manoj Shah, Hemkurben & Nemchand Devshi Shah family,  Mr. Sashi Shah and Jasani memorial Sterling trust for sponsoring our trip to Mombasa. With your support we have been able to take 60 children to Mombasa and back after spending close to ten days there. Thanks a million. God Bless you and your Families.

Laying of Foundation Stone It was a long awaited dream  and plan to set up proper workshop and reorganize our storage facilities. This became a reality on 15th July 2009 by laying the foundation stone of the workshop by Mr. Rajnikant Kantaria in the presence of Mr. Bimal Kantaria and Fr. Joseph Pulikkal  the Provincial who blessed the foundation stone.

A big Word of thanks to Mr. Rajnikant Kantaria and family  and indermissionswerk Germany for having sponsored the construction. We are still looking for generous support to complete the construction. We are greatful to Mr. Jayadev of Sava Constructions and Mr. Casmir for undertaking the construction works.

Mr.  Paul Hart Visits Bosco Boys.
The Team manager of Portsmouth premier league club Mr. Paul Hart visited us and donated football jerseys. We thank him and the club for this generous gesture.

Thank You Leny Kling
After 10 years at the helm, Leny Kling left the Terre des Hommes East Africa regional office. She always had a soft corner for the children in Bosco Boys and she supported us for the last nine years. We have seen our children growing up and becoming better citizens. Today we have over 15 students in various universities. All that we have achieved today is because of you. Thank you Leny, though far away we will never forget you. God bless you. And we welcome Ms. Petra the new regional director of Terre Des Hommes.

Rotary Club of Industrial Area Donates Football  Jerseys.
We thank RI Director Gordon McInally,  Rotary Club of Aberdeen St Nicholas and the Rotary club of Industrial area  for donating football jerseys. Mr. Gordaon brought us jerseys  all the way from England donated by the Rotary Club of Aberdeen and the Rotary club of Industrial area made sure that it reached Bosco Boys.  In these ways you continue to support us thus we are able to reach out to the less fortunate in Society. God bless you all.

Nipigie picha... A new Venture

We are grateful to Mr.Christopher and his wife  from United States  who came with  a noble idea of  training our children in  photography.  They came with 100 disposable cameras after a short training in photography the cameras were distributed among 25 selected boys to try their skills. At the end of their stay in Kenya Mr. Christopher collected all the Cameras back and went back with them to United States. They will be processed and will be posted on to a website. At present they are posted on a temporary website, if you click on the following address you can view them. http://web.me.com/occhicone98/boscoboysphotoproject/Home.html   There are some fantastic photos from our young budding artists. Some of the best  pictures  will be auctioned out in one of our Don Bosco schools in New York and will support the education of Bosco Boys.
