MARY MOTHER OF OUR SALESIAN FAMILY

On 23rd May this year members of the Salesian family of Don Bosco Embu (FMA and SDB) gathered at Mother Mazzarello Youth Center community to celebrate the feast of Mary Help of Christian. Guided by the theme Mary Mother of our Salesian Family, the family spirit was truly experienced by all.

The day began with praise and worship songs, followed by the Marian moment which highlighted the role of Mary Mother of God and of Salesian family. The students from the Sisters’ schools dramatized in a creative way the different vocations in the Church and Mary’s role in  vocational discernment. The Eucharistic celebration followed with Fr. Patric Njiru Vicar General of the Embu Diocese concelebrating with Fr. Simon Asira SDB, Fr. Isaac Maina  SDB and Oscar Rutechura  SDB.

United we stand divided we fall is a well known expression echoed almost in all spheres of human endeavors. So this has been the case of our communities here in Embu where-by guided by the Spirit, both communities have worked together for the  promotion of vocations in the Church and in our Salesian family as well. So during the mass after the creed, six Cooperators took their promises. After  mass four aspirants committed themselves for the formation journey. Let us congratulate them for the courageous choices made by the laity.

I am sure that all of those who attended the celebration on that day still keep in their hearts this beautiful experience. Therefore let us pray for the Cooperators so that they may continue to witness to God’ gracious love and remain faithful to their call.

My heart is filled with gratitude to the SDB and FMA for the support received when forming this group. I cannot  forget to thank the Cooperators Provincial Council guided by Rosanna Kathangu together with all the other Cooperators who came to witness to this great day in Embu.
The event was truly celebrated not only as a great gift of  new Cooperators, but also as a celebration of triumph of God’s grace in the lives of all the Cooperators who remain faithful to their vocation as Salesian Cooperators. Saying yes to God’s call doesn’t mean that one should enter religious life. It is saying yes to follow his plan for us and letting him use us as instrument to inspire other young people and bring them to Jesus. Congratulations to all and keep up the good work God has begun in you.
